Reset SSO account password on vCenter appliance 5.5 and 6.0

we will reset passw0rd for administrator @vSphere.local on vCenter server appliance 5.5 and 6.0 and all tasks will be the same but just we have small different in one task .

At first you must open ssh on vCenter server appliance and loge into vCnter through Putty and use root user and password

after that you must enable shell by this command “shell.set –enabled True

use shell to do your command tasks and write “shell” and Enter

then write this command  /usr/lib/vmware-vmdir/bin/vdcadmintool

you can now choose number 3 to reset admin password so choose 3 and press enter

after that will ask you about UPN of your user administrator@vSphere.local  Now this only diffrent between vSphere 5.5 and vSphere 6.0

in vsphere 5.5 you write it like this cn=administrator,cn=users,dc=vSphere,dc=local

in vSphere 6.0 write

administrator@vSphere.local

Now you can Copy password and  login to your vCenter appliance using administrator@vSphere.local through Web Clint

then Go to administration

Next step Go to Users and Groups

Next Step make right click on administrator@vsphere.local user and choose edit

Now you can configure new password

add the current password and new password and confirm the new one and press OK

Now you Complete the task try to Login with the new password
